Instructions for Watering

Get Golf Cart at OLD Fire Station

  • Parking for volunteers is available beside or behind the OLD fire station.

  • Access the OLD fire station with the key located in the lockbox on the door handle at the west-side man door. (Code: 1834)

  • The golf cart key is in, and should be left in, the golf cart. A second key for the water spigot at Black Fork Commons Plaza is also in the front of the golf cart.

  • The garage door opener (see picture below) has three buttons:

    • Top button moves the door up

    • Middle button moves it down

    • Red button stops the door

  • After putting the garage door up, drive the golf cart out, put the garage door down, and lock the man door while watering.

Fill Water Tank at Black Fork Commons

  • Drive the golf cart to the Black Fork Commons Plaza pump house, driving only on brick surfaces and avoiding the white pavers within the plaza.

  • Attach the fill hose (stored in the golf cart) to the spigot located on the west-side of the pump house (see picture below), use key to turn on the spigot to fill the tank.

  • Use key to shut off the spigot. Return the fill hose and key back in the golf cart.

  • If watering is done properly, you should need to return to refill the water tank at least once during the process.

Watering

  • To begin watering, turn on the switch for the water pump on the golf cart (see picture below).

  • Ensure the hose handle nozzle is set to "shower."

  • Please review this map of downtown watering locations. Additional details are provided below:

    • Watering within Black Fork Commons Plaza

      • Staying on the brick area only, water the four black planters. DO NOT drive on the white pavers in the middle of the plaza.

    • Watering on Main Street

      • Travel on the sidewalk and water each hanging basket (50 total, yes 50!) and the permanent planters with flowers.

        • For hanging baskets, water until water drains from the bottom of the basket to ensure proper absorption.

        • Please also water these permanent planters (see pictures below):

          • East-side alley planter near Kilgore and Herring

          • Flower bed near the utilities office

          • Flower bed near Third Street Family Health Services

          • Bandstand baskets and planters

          • Large black planters on bridge over Black Fork

Return Golf Cart to OLD Fire Station

  • Once all watering is complete, return the golf cart to the fire station.

  • Be sure to:

    • Turn off the golf cart and the pump.

    • Plug in the golf cart charger.

    • Ensure the golf cart key and spigot key are left in the golf cart.

    • Securely lock the man door to the fire station and leave the door key in the lockbox for the next volunteer.

  • Please text Cody Albert that you have completed the watering at 419-566-8838.

THANK YOU!
