The Community Improvement Corporation of Shelby (CIC) focuses on Shelby’s prosperity and growth. The CIC’s ability to make a difference on its own is limited, but, combined with other means of support, there are endless possibilities for positive economic development. It is all about collaboration. At the center of these collaborations is the relationship between CIC and the entities of the City of Shelby’s government.
The road to success is not easy to navigate, but through collaboration and hard work, the next generation of residents will be handed a city that is economically stable, attractive, and a place where its citizens desire to work, live, and be proud.
CIC also serves as the parent organization of Shelby Bicycle Days, a community festival focused on bringing families together in downtown Shelby.

Since 2013, the Community Improvement Corporation of Shelby has refocused its energy on the development and implementation of three long-term plans primarily dedicated to economic vitality and downtown revitalization.
Be the catalyst for economic development growth by remaining committed to the Shelby Economic Development Plan adopted in 2017.
Rebuild Shelby’s urban core to attract a new, younger generation to Shelby by executing the Shelby Revitalization and Placemaking Plan adopted in 2019.
Solidify our own organizational sustainability by enhanced board member effectiveness, fiduciary sustainability, and improved internal and external communication.
